DIANE COX BASHEER
Diane Cox Basheer, President of Rosegill Development, L.L.C. and Principal
of Basheer & Edgemoore, has been actively involved in the homebuilding and
development industry since 1973. The companies are currently building and
developing communities with sales of approximately $900 million including Farrcroft
in Old Town Fairfax; River Falls, a 600 acre golf and waterfront community in Prince
William; the 100 acre waterfront community of Kingsport in Annapolis, Maryland;
Lansdowne on the Potomac in Loudoun County; Governor's Grove and Governor's Hill in
Alexandria; and The Reserve and McLean Place in McLean. New communities
planned for 2007 include Maymont, Charleston Square and Cedar Grove in Fairfax
County, and the 1600 acre Whitehall estate home community in Spotsylvania County.
Rosegill, a major new neo-traditional community, located in historic Middlesex County
on the Rappahannock River is planned to open in 2008. It will feature multiple
housing types and community amenities, all set among its approximately 850 acres.
Farrcroft, a neo-traditional style community, was awarded the National Association of
Homebuilders' Best in American Living Award and also was named Community of the
Year by the area's Building Industry Association. Prior to opening her own firms in
1995, she was President and co-owner of one of the largest by volume private
homebuilding companies in the D.C. area.
Long active in the building industry, Ms. Basheer is past President of the Northern Virginia
Building Industry Association, representing over 1,000 member firms, and is the 2004
Lifetime Achievement Award honoree from the Metropolitan Washington Builders
Association. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute and serves as the
chairman of its Residential Neighborhood Development Council. In addition, she
holds a Certified Residential Brokerage (CRB) designation from the National
Association of Realtors and MIRM accreditation from the National Association of
Homebuilders. Her firms have been the recipient of multiple Finest for Family Living
Awards and MAME awards for land planning, architectural design and marketing.
Ms. Basheer holds a B.A. Degree in Political Science, Cum Laude, from the Colorado
College with post-graduate studies at the Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania, where she completed the Advanced Management Program in
Business. Prior to entering homebuilding, she was employed by the USIA, Voice of
America, in international broadcasting. Her civic activities have included the
Executive Board of the Women's Center in Vienna where she sponsors its annual
Leadership Conference and was presented with the 2003 award of Individual
Philanthropy. She currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the
Middlesex YMCA.
A native of Richmond with six generations of family roots in Middlesex County, she
and her husband, B. William "Page" Basheer, reside in McLean and Deltaville,
Virginia.
